    WordPerfect Extensions

As the secretary for my Condo Corporation, I use WordPerfect to keep the minutes of the Board Meetings and to record various decisions and approvals.  I will say that I have had comments from the professional managers that these minutes are the best they have ever seen city-wide. Part of the credit for this goes to some of WordPerfect's features.  For example, a considerable portion of the minutes is boiler-plate which changes only in small ways each meeting.  Thus, I have been able to create boilerplate with WordPerfect's Variables feature. This allows me to change dates, times, financial indicator tables, and various parts of other standard text entries from the dialog at the beginning.  Then, I can go through and update the various sections to record new decisions and the status of on-going work.  In this way, I can produce a set of minutes containing 7-12 pages in several hours after each meeting.  Of course, the ability to produce pdf in archival format allows me to distribute the minutes by email quickly without worrying about whether the others are using Word or whatever.

I could, and would take this application a few steps further if other features were available.  eg.  it is a pain to have to type the semi-boiler plate (Moved by:(name) , Seconded by:(name ) .... For (names); Against: ( Names) ; Carried/Not Carried) for each resolution. However, WordPerfect Variables can only have one value per variable per document. The ability to create an array of variables within a style and select a value would be a timesaver.)   This would allow me to create a resolution style  that  I could insert for each item of business, type the resolution and select the appropriate values to record the decision. Perhaps this is a bit of a specialized application, but one that would make an interesting template for Wordperfect.
