Hi, I have been playing with the new trial version of WPOffice.  Our office currently uses Corel WordPerfect 8 Legal Edition.  There are a few things that I can't seem to be able to do in the new version...something we use a "Quick List."  And when opening a file, you can't view the file description.  Also will our current macros convert over if a new version is installed?

 Has Corel done anyway with it's Legal Version?  We administer Trusts and Estates and our files now are becoming more and more obsolete.

 Any suggestions?

I passed on your question to some folks who have been around longer than I have for their comment.  I hope they will get back to us soon.  In the meantime I will provide my 2 cents.

The functionality that you have in your legal edition should be embedded in our X4 Standard version.  I am having trouble figuring out what "quick lists" are though - can you provide any comments on how it works (I assume it is not QuickView)?  That may help me to figure out just what we call it now.

You should be able to see the file description - simplest way is to right click for Properties, but are you looking for something else?  Macros will work in new versions but because of changes may require rework (easiest way is to test with your trial).

QuickLists were part of the third party tools that we licensed to include in that special legal edition so they are not included in other versions. Since versions 8 & 9 we have not created a legal edition as we found many firms like to pick and choose their products. Some of those same tools that were included in WordPerfect Legal Edition can be found with their updated versions listed here at 'What works with WordPerfect'.

Most macros will convert without problems. Simply make a copy of them and open them in the newer version. If there are issues that need to be updated in the macros, a message will display that will alert you.

You can find help on macros in that trial version you are testing. With WordPerfect open, select "Help" on the menu bar, then select "Macro Commands".  While you are in that 'Help' menu, you can also look at "Help Topics", click on the Index tab when the help opens and search using the word 'macro'
